Supplies:

Paint Shop Pro 9 but can be done in V8
Pattern: corktilerol
Filters: Greg’s Factory Output Vol 2 – pool shadow

Graphic of your choice. This one is by A Andrew Gonzales
You can view more of his wonderful work and read about him here:
http://www.sublimatrix.com/html/Biography.html (note mild nudity)

1. Open the graphic, Shift D to duplicate and close the original
.
2. Open the corktilerol pattern & minimize so that you can add it to the material
pallet

3. Set the background color to white color & the foreground to a light color
from your graphic (I used d4b9a6). On the foreground window select gradient
and scroll until you find foreground/background, set at angle 92/repeats 3 and
select. The material pallet should look like this :

To simplify use of the material pallet, when you change colors from white to black in order to change gradients, select the large white background square. We will be changing colors often so please do keep this in mind so you won’t be tearing out your hair.

4. Image – add border using any color not in your graphic – 3 pixel symmetric. Select with your magic wand and flood fill with the light colored gradient

5. Selections, Invert – Effects – 3D Effects - Cutout

6. Apply the cutout again changing the Vertical to -3/ Horizontal to -3

7. Deselect.

8. Image – add 10 pixel border – Change the background in your material pallet by clicking on the pattern icon and selecting the corktilerol pattern you minimized earlier. Flood fill the selection with the pattern.

9. Deselect

10. Image – add 3 pixel border – Switch the background pallet form material to the white color (the gradient will reappear in the foreground pallet. Select the border and flood fill with the light gradient.

11. Repeat the cutout in Steps 5 & 6 then Deselect

12. Image – add a 30 pixel border. Change the background color in the material pallet to black. Note how the gradient colors automatically change – Fantastic, how this works - lol

13. Select the border with your magic wand and flood fill with the dark gradient
Keep selected

14. Effects – Plugins – Greg’s Factory Vol II – poolshadow and apply with these settings:

15. With the border still selected, Repeat cutout in Steps 5 and 6 – Keep Selected.

16. Apply the poolshadow once more with the same settings in Step 14. Deselect

17. Image – Add a 3 pixel border. Change the background tile to white. Flood fill
with the light gradient.

18. Repeat cutout Steps 5 and 6 – Deselect

19. Image – Add a 10 pixel border. Change the background material pallet to black.
Flood fill with the dark gradient. Keep selected.

20. Image – Effects – 3D Effects – Inner Bevel using color 5b4141 - Deselect

21. Repeat Step 4 through Step 7

Lots of material pallet changes here but you should be a pro after doing this frame. And you didn’t realize it could be this easy. ?

Hope this has given you some new creative ideas as well as allowed you to master the material pallet. Experiment, keep smiling & best of all have a great time creating.
